Damana
Maha Vidyalaya is a government school located in remote area in Digamadulla.
Its educational zone is Ampara under Damana division. Damana Maha Vidyalaya was
established on the 24th June 1924. Now it is reaching its centenary.
1948 Mr. Mayaranjan, Mahinda Mahanama Rajapaksa came to Digaamadulla. A sensitive teacher as well as a pioneer of
wild story literature in this country, he added pride to the history of the
Damana school as a principal of our school in 1948. . "Digamadulle Aashcharyaya" was his
first book. The history of Damana Maha Vidyalaya is described in the chapter 3
"Mallita Liwmak" in this book.
It has
grade 01 to grade 13. The total number of students of the school is 275. There
are 136 male and 139 female students in the school. The students of this school
are from neighboring villages named Damana , Ekgaloya, Peranigama,
Thibirigolla, Ambalanoya, Malayadiya and so on.
